Tax rates sourced from the National Board of Revenue (NBR), Finance Ordinance 2025, and the Bangladesh Budget 2026–27 presented on 11 June 2026 by the Finance Minister.
The progressive tax schedule for Assessment Year 2026–27: ৳0–৳3,75,000 @ 0% → next ৳3,00,000 @ 10% → next ৳4,00,000 @ 15% → next ৳5,00,000 @ 20% → next ৳20,00,000 @ 25% → balance @ 30%.
Tax-free thresholds: General taxpayer ৳3,75,000 | Women & Senior citizens (65+) ৳4,25,000 | Third gender & persons with disabilities ৳5,00,000 | Gazetted freedom fighters & July warriors ৳5,25,000 (Finance Ordinance 2025).
A flat minimum income tax of ৳5,000 applies if taxable income exceeds the relevant threshold (৳1,000 for first-time filers). Withholding tax (TDS) deducted at source by employers reduces final tax payable.
Investment rebate is 15% of qualifying investments, capped at the lowest of: actual investment, 3% of total income, or ৳10,00,000. Eligible instruments include Sanchaypatra, DPS (max ৳1,20,000), life insurance, approved mutual funds, and stock investments.
Salaried employees enjoy a salary exemption of 1/3 of employment income or ৳5,00,000 (whichever is lower) under the Income Tax Act 2023. Tax returns for AY 2026–27 must be filed by 30 November 2026 at etaxnbr.gov.bd. Late filing forfeits the investment rebate and attracts a ৳5,000 penalty.
